I've been recording TV shows with an HP media center pc (MCE 2004, WindowsXP home) and later edit out commercials and burn with Nero.
It's been working just fine for over a year, but starting last weekend, I can't edit or burn the shows anymore.
The files play just fine in Media Center, but as soon as I try to edit/burn them, the files freeze in Nero (and a few other programs I've tried) after a few seconds or minutes.
Other dvd/cd burning works fine.
I suspect it's not a Nero problem, but has something to do with the recordings of the show.
Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem?
I've used system restore to go back to a time when everything was working correctly, and my one test recording was once again usable in Nero, but I'm not sure if it's just a fluke.
And I'd really like to burn the files that I can only play in media Center, to free up space.
Do I have to give up on them, or is there a way to repair corrupted dvr-ms files?
(I've already tried several dvr-to-Mpeg converters, but they all hang on those files, too).
