I'm trying to use ffmpegX to convert VOB from DVDs I have made in DVD Studio Pro with commercials for a director I work into DV. This is the intermediate step to finally convert them down into Sorenson Video 3 for clients to access via the web. The files I have been given to make the original DVD files were already M2Vs and AC3. Upon converting the VOB, audio is out of sync from the video. The DVD is authored NTSC at a frame rate of 29.97. Is there a reason the resulting DV files drift out of sync.
Please do not suggest to get the commercials in another format as this is not an option because we do not have access to any of that here in our US office. Plus, some of these commercials are more than a couple of years old.

Ok, using the Mpeg4 (MOV) option still creates a file with out of sync audio. This is a simple 6 minute reel that is on DVDs I make. The VOB is in 29.97 fps NTSC. I do not understand why there is an audio drift if there shouldnt be any sort of pulldown done to it.
Edit. I found another program called OpenShiiva on sourceforge (through google search) that seems to keep it in sync to an MP4 file which I was able to then convert to a mov in Sorenson Video 3. I like ffmpegx and use it a lot, hopefully this could be looked into. If anyone has any other ideas using ffmpegx to ideally goto DV from the the source MPEG2 or VOB, please keep them coming, they would be very helpful

You may also try the following. 1. Convert to NTSC FILM framerate, or 2. Convert to "DivX mencoder" instead of "MOV mpeg-4". Then use DivX Doctor II to encapsulate into a MOV container.

See I'm trying to avoid going to Mpeg-4, yet alone Divx because this is for Commercial Ad agencies to view online on a website so encapsulating divx into Mov wouldn't be enough. I guess for now, using the MPEG 4s from OpenShiiva is my best solution without having to get a commercial product like DVDxDV which I have read isnt perfect at the job either. Thanks again though major, and thanks for otherwise making a great product which is by far one of the first tools I install on any friend's comp who happens to switch over to Mac.
