As the title implies, I want to split a DVD9 disc (it is an episode disc) into two DVD5 discs WITHOUT COMPRESSION, but I wanna keep the menus.

What software will let me do this? I tried to utilize DVDfab's "Copy Season Disc Fully" feature, but that option for whatever reason is greyed out.

    Thanx!

VOBLANKER should work also, just select the first couple or last couple of episodes for each disc and blank them, Save one as disc 1a and one as disc1b, etc....

    ghoster,

DVD shrink does not let you split up (reauthor) a DVD onto two seperate discs while keeping the menus.

    jetfan,

I tried using vobblanker but it just looks so cryptic, I dont know where to start. Is there a tutorial somewhere to do what I wanna do?

    Hi.

I created a very simple guide some time ago when I had to backup my Family Guy box set.

    It's attached.

    Cheers,

  6. yes dvd shrink will work.most episode dvds have like eight of them on one dvd . well when using dvd shrink on the first dvd you make the first four episodes into still pics or image then the other four will not require any compression. then the next dvd you do the same just this time still pic or image the last four......

    Correct !!!

    But ...

I have seen episode DVD discs where all the episodes are on the same VTS TRACK (I think that is the correct terminalogy) and DVDShrink will not work that way.

However I have found that you can usually import the individual episodes into TMPGEnc DVD Author and create your own simple menu. This works as far as splitting things up without loss of quality but then again ... no original menu.

BTW I think CLONE DVD works the same way as DVDShrink in this regard.

this sounds like a job for clonedvd.

just uncheck the episodes it would take to remove until you're down to dvd-5 size, output to files, and then go and do it vise-versa.. i would then use menuedit to remove the buttons to the episodes that arent on the disc.

You can do this with DVD Stripper (free) or DVDRemake ($40).

In either case, you don't have to disable any menu buttons or mess with the menus in any way. You retain the menus, and the buttons which point to the stripped-out episodes will do nothing but take you back to the main menu.

I have done this several times. Backed up The Sopranos (using DVD Stripper) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (using DVD Remake).

VOBBlanker for mine ($Free). Say you've got 8 episodes - for the first disc, blank episodes 5-8. For the second disc, blank episodes 1-4. Output both. Burn both. All menus retained and two fully functional DVD-5s

    VOBBlanker guide:

    If in doubt, Google it.
