What process? What's the format of your source file (after capturing)? How long (time) is it?

    Joao,
Whoa there. Are you saying your final MPEG video is 22 Gb.? If so, how long is the video?
Are you sure you have all of your video in VOB format and not still in AVI.

    Please provide some additional details.

    Thanks,
    Ed

Capture to AVI. Encode to mpeg2 with dedicated encoder (TMPGEnc, MainConcept...) @ a bitrate that allows you to fit that amount of video on a DVD (use a bitrate calculatorto find out what this is). Author with dedicated authoring app (DVDAuthorGUI, TMPGEnc DVD Author, DVD-Lab...)

If TMPGEnc is complaining about too big files, I'm guessing you're talking TMPGEnc DVD Author, right? You should encode your too big file down to the correct bitrate using TMPGEnc (the mpeg encoder) before continuing to author it.
3 hrs on a DVD-5 gives you ~3100 kbps video bitrate with a 224 kbps audio bitrate. This should tell you to use 1/2 D1 resolution, as the bitrate isn't enough for full D1 resolution. (Which I'm sure someone is going to debate, but don't pay attention to those )

TMPGEnc won't complain about any source file being too big.
What's the format of your capture? Find that out, and head over to the Convert section. Then select ??? to DVD (where ??? is the format of your captured file) and read some of the guides that I'm sure will show up. Pick one that uses software you're familiar with, and give it a go! If you get unexpected results somwhere along the way, come back with questions!

    Hey Mats,
Just as an aside, even though TDA will complain about the file size you can accept it anyway and the use DVD Shrink to make it fit a standard size. Having said that if you put TDA in the DL mode there is a limit that it will not go beyond (~9Gb). It will stop processing at that point. But for say an MPEG file size of 8.7Gb it will create the VIDEO_TS folder and it will be in the neighborhood of 8.7Gb. You can then use shrink on that folder and it will then produce a DL VIDEO_TS (or ISO) of the right size.
This was only in the for whats it worth category.

True, but you're still limited to ~9 GB, as you point out. Seems like Joao is in the 20+ GB range...

    Mats,

    That's my problem now...
