  1. When making a VCD does the file have to be .mpg or can it be .avi?

    and specifically mpg1

    capture your AVI using one of the uncompress codec if you have them installed on you pc they should be installed if
    you have a capture card or one of the web cams...

    once you have the avi use a freeware program like AVI2VCD to convert it ...AVI2VD will convert it to the correct frame rate AND RESOLUTION FOR YOUR DVD PLAYER.. ONCE IT
    AN MPG FILE YOU CAN MAKE A VCD USING EZ CD CREATOR NEW VERSION OR NERO 5.0 OR ABOVE IF YOU GET NERO'S LATEST VERSION YOU WON'T NEED AVI2VCD IT HAS THE ENCODER BUILT IN TO THE PROCESS..

  3. How long does it take to convert avi to mpg1 i heard it takes about 6 hours is that correct?

  4. It can take longer depending on size or file and processor speed.

  6. dvd is but vcd is mpeg1 (perhaps you meant svcd?)
