  1. Spidy,

You have spun a web around yourself !!

Jokes apart - Download Irfanview. Use the Capture option to capture the foreground window. Then capture a screen shot of Gspot with your file loaded and post here.
When I was born I was so shocked that I could'nt speak for 18 months.

  2. ok , i appreciate all the inputs of everyone and like i said i'm new to all this so if i make mistakes along the way , sorry but i'm trying to learn as i go along......i know that no one here has tried cucusoft , but i gave it a try and i was able to encode the file with no problem. now the only thing is that the file came out 5.8 gb and a dvd can only hold 4.37 gb. i would just like to know if there is a program or a way to somehow compress the file to fit the dvd.

  3. ReJig - it is not fully automated approach though, you must give the ratio for shrinking the files (% recompression).

If it's a video DVD structure (or ISO) you've got, DVDShrink can be used. ReJig works fine for mpegs.

What did not work? Until all specs of your source files are on the table, and you tell us exactly what you try to do, and how what you tried didnt work, it's impossible to try to help you. AFAIK, nobody's a mind reader around here.

And for the second (third? fourth?) time - You propably don't have to encode anyting. Just author.

  7. yes you were right it just needed to be authored which was done succssfully and then burned to dvd..........it was so simple and yet so hard to figure out. thanks for everyone input.......ijust like to know something about tmpegnc author, how do i change the settings for audio and video biterate. on tmpegnc 2.5 there is a place were you can set the audio biterate to 128,160,192ect. samewith video biterate, so if your file is bigger than 4.37 gb you can adjust the biterate so it gets smaller and it fits. where are these settings on tmpegnc author.....iam using tmpegnc author 1.6

TMPGEnc DVD Author is "just" that - for authoring. It does not reencode, hence no place nor reason for setting bitrates. That's (as you've discovered) earlier in the process, in the encoder. You create the sources to fit - if you've made a mistake, and the DVD structure is too big for your media, you could always shrink it down to size with DVDShrink, after creating the too big DVD structure, but that's just a "last resort" approach - there's no magic involved in setting the right bitrate at the encoding stage - just use a bitrate calculator.
