  3. You should give more info than that. Use GSpot.

There's a mpeg2 plugin for TMPGEnc, or just installing PowerDVD and telling TMPGEnc to use the PowerDVD mpeg2 decoder use to cure this dilemma.
Another solution would be to load the mpeg2 in VirtualDubMod and frameserve to TMPGEnc.

Never had any success at all with .mov and TMPGEnc, so you're ahead of me! Only way my .mov's can be converted is to first convert to AVI with River Past Video Cleaner. Seems like there's as many flavors of mov as there is of AVI...

It helps me see that either the file is in a completely unknown format, seriously damaged, or, most likely, you're using an old version of GSpot that doesn't handle mpegs. Get the latest beta.

  14. ok, i used the new version beta and under video codec type it says mpeg1 -payload.......and under audio codec name it says mpeg1.....i hope this helps

Well, your should get both audio and video reencoding that source with TMPGEnc.
So, let's back up a little.
    Why are you reencoding it?

  17. i tried to encode with tmpegnc so i can burn it on dvd.....but when i encode it the preview box stays black.......when it's done encoding i play the file and i get perfect audio but the screen stays black.

  18. Well, mpeg1 standart VCD is supported on DVD, only the audio shoud be resampled to 48K. So if it is the case you need TDA to author directly the DVD as AFAIK it will resample the audio for you. Look at the guides VCD to DVD.

Yes, that's what I was driving at - If the mpeg is VCD specs (resolution), all you have to do is author it as DVD with TDA - TDA will take care of the audio issue automagically.

  20. i am using Cucusoft AVI to VCD DVD MPEG Converter Pro v5.11 and it seems to be working......will this file be ready to burn on dvd once it's done(is the authoring being done or do i have to do it later).....on a seperate issue can someone tell me what this means "could not complete command-error parsing ac3 audio stream (dvd err,-12004)....because i encoded this file with no problem it's just when i went to burn i got this message...

Never touched anything like CuCuSoft. That the actual burning process should even try to parse an audio stream seems more than odd - something besides burning sure is going on!

  22. spiderman,
the suggestion is to use TMPG DVD Author. If you decide to use a software that nobody in this topic recomended to you, you best e-mail Cucusoft for support on this issue.

Spider, don't run around all over the place. Try a structured approach.
    1) What have you got? Load your source file into GSpot, take a screen shot of what GSpot shows.
    2) What do you want to do with it? (A Video DVD, I gather).

With these 2 pieces of info, I'm sure we'll be able to finish this project, if we all work together.

How can one aspire to create a Video DVD when one doesn't know how to take a screen shot?
    Anyho, regarding your source:
Resolution, bit rate, frame rate. Your TV system.
