I've converted a 25FPS AVI to PAL DVD using CCE Basic.
The AVI plays smoothly on my PC, but in my DVD player the coverted DVDR plays with a Judder! ... kind of like its skipping everyother frame ..
How do i smooth this out on the CCE conversion ?
Dave.

The problem might be poor quality media. Do you have a different brand of media you could try in your DVD player?

I believe this has to do with field order.Try switching the field to the opposite to what you did it in.I forget now wether it should be top field first or bottom field first for dv to view on your tv.

I have been leaving the "top field first" option checked in Advanced Options. I will try unchecking this to see if it makes a difference.Originally Posted by bmiller

He said 25fps avi to PAL DVD (which is 25fps) so no framerate change.Originally Posted by guns1inger
If the source is avi, it is almost certainly progressive. So encode as progressive in CCE. (let your DVD player convert to interlaced). I am pretty sure it can do it, but can't tell you what setting to use as I don't use CCE myself. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary... -
Right, i think im in the right area of finding the problem now.
I've been using AviSynth to add borders and set the aspec ratio.
When i play the AVS Script file, which is using the AVI file direct from the Hard Drive, i get the same Judder / Stutter ...
This has got to be a Codec issue, as CCE is only encoding what i give it through from the AviScript !
I've un-installed all codecs from my HardDrive .... could someone suggest the right (stable) codecs i need for AviSynth to work properly ? -
What bit rate did you configure CCE to encode at? Some DVD players can't handle DVD's encoded at very low and very high bit rates.Originally Posted by DaveF

This is definatley a problem with AviSynth ..
If i encode just the .avi without running it through AviSynth, it encodes fine, but i don't get the borders and aspect i want.
As soon as i run it through AviSynth, i plays with a Judder ! .. even before i encode it ....
AviSynth, seems to be using another Codec ? If thats possible ??!?
