  1. I had no idea where to place this question, but here's the problem.

Have avi file, probably a xvid but plays on Windows media player. No logo on video at all.
I encoded a portion of it to an avi clip in TMGENc. No problem, now there is a DivX Video bug in lower right hand corner.

I put it in Adobe Premiere to create a gif file. Using region, I blur out the logo. Doesn't work. Bug still in corner. In preview it seems to work okay but shows up on finished product.

What is with the DivX bug, does anyone know? Why did TMGEN put it there and how can I get rid of it?

    Thanks

  2. You go to Start --> All programs --> DivX --> DivX Codec --> Decoder Configuration Utility

In there, click the "Quality Settings" tab. Second checkbox from the bottom should be "Disable Logo". It will not appear in playback and encodes.

I think it appears in the encodes because it adds it in per frame decoded, then passes this decoded frame on to the application requesting it. If it is a player, you see it. If it is an encoder, it still considers it to be part of the image and so encodes it!

Anyway, that should solve your problem once and for all.

so, does this remove it if you encode something with the divx codec? or.. i mean, does it not stamp the divx in the corner when you encode with divx? Thx

  5. Short answer: The decoder is adding the logo. Go to decoder options and disable it (or use XviD to decode fourcc DX50). It is definitely not stamped in during the encoding process.

  6. only_emo_kid - read it more closely. I gave a definitive answer as to whether it would work or not, then hypothesised as to how it was appearing in the encodes.
