  1. I've spent the entire day on this, and cannot solve it. I've had a hauppauge wintv go pci in a dell sc400 with an fx5200 for 2 months now, and can capture avi and mpeg perfectly. Today I put an identical card in a dell 8300 (Both have 2.8, i gig) with an fx5200. I bought the cards at the same time, same store. They are the same chipset. The one I put in today will not capture avi. It captures mpeg2 no problem. I've tried two versions of the hauppauge drivers (the newest, and the one my functioning card uses), as well as the btwin drivers I found referenced on this site. The driver made absolutely no difference. I tried capturing with ulead, virtualvcr and the hauppauge wintv 2000 appl. Absolutely no difference. All of these work just fine in the other machine though. I figured it was a bad card, so I switched them. The 'bad' card works just fine in the sc400, and the 'good' card will not capture in the 8300. So, it must be the machine. But what? There are no conflicts, I've changed pci slots. The next thing I'm going to do is reinstall the video card drivers. I'm not sure why, but I can think of nothing else to do. If anybody has any suggestions, I'd like to hear them. Thanks...

  2. I forgot. The problem is this: Everything looks ok in the preview window (for all 3 capture apps), but as soon as I hit the capture button, the preview almost stops, and jerks forward every 5 seconds or so. The sound continues. Of course, any file plays back this same jerky way.
