    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get video from an older Sony Handycam onto my computer. I have a Hauppauge WintTv 500 card and I've plugged the video cam into the card via the Composite cables. When I launch Sony Vegas, I get nothing. It lists the device but does not get the video. I also get Vista errors about the media center service stopping. Is there an easier way to do this that works?

    I have:
    Vista
    Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz
    2gb ram
    350gb drive.

    Thanks!

What format is the Handycam? Most are miniDV format and use an IEEE-1394 card for direct input to Vegas.

The PVR-500 card has no uncompressed capture capability. It outputs MPeg2 files that can then be imported to Vegas.

Vegas is not fully certified for Vista. That may create other issues.

  3. Use Hauppauge's software to capture, WinTV2000.
