    i spent a lot of time in forums, but i couldn't find any guide for reconverting (or reencoding, i don't know how to name it) xvid (with qpel) into xvid (without it), because my standalone philips dvd737 doesn't support qpel. i know that it is possible to use virtualdub. but i can't find anywhere any guide, what settings have to be.
    i have 2cd's xvid with ac3. i know how to demux audio. but i don't know the way to reconvert video... was suggestion tto use dr. divx for video. but for all i know, dr. divx makes audio only mp3, not ac3. and if use dr. divx, won't xvid file be compressed twice? first time - with xvid, second time- with dr. divx? or am i wrong? how to leave the same size as original file?
    hope to get some help
    thanks in advance...

    Just load with Vdub/VdubMod, make sure that the video is set to fast recompress and the audio to direct streaming, then just select XviD, the DXN HT profile, enter the desired filesize, etc. and encode.

    Yo!

    MPEG4Modifier (you will need the Microsoft .NET Framework installed, which you can download from Windows Update).

    and what exactly is that going to do for them? It can't change the fact that a file uses qpel.

    DXN = DivX Networks
    HT = Home Theatre

    The option is in the profiles dropdown selection, although you will need a 1.1.x build of XviD and not 1.0.x. Basically it disables qpel, GMC, etc. and turns on DXN HT VBV settings. If it is set to DXN HT then it should work on any standalone. Only exception would be with MTK based players as I think it leaves the max bframes on the default 2, with packed bitstream enabled. For strict DXN HT, bframes should really be set to 1. Or for MTK based players, packed bitstream turned off if it is set to the default 2.

    i guess i found another way to solve problem with qpel. but there's another trouble...
    with vdubmod demuxed ac3 and then fixed with besliced. with dr. divx converted video into divx (with no audio).
    and then mixed (or muxed..) with nandub converted divx video (with no audio) and fixed ac3 file. but now gspot shows that there left only 5channels. in original file was 6 channels. where did disapear 1 channel???... did besliced "fixed" ac3 file?

    AFAIK, the 6 channels just means 5.1, so I think everything should be fine. Did you try playing the file ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
