Video doesn't display on a projector?

OK, strange problem...

I have a home made movie that I put on DVD. Everything plays PERFECT on a standalone and also on a computer. When I try display the video through an LCD projector, the portion of the screen where the video is playing doesn't display on the projector. It's still playing on the monitor, but no projector. I can move the mouse over the video and see the mouse pointer, but still no video.

Standalone DVD player to the same projector works fine.

I tried this on two laptops, same result, I thought I turned off hardware acceleration, same result. Full screen, windowed, etc. The portion of the screen where the video should be playing is just black.

Any thoughts? I normally wouldn't play the video through a computer through a projector, but in this case I need(ed) to.

??? Not sure what you mean by overlay? If you are saying it's like a chormakey type of effect, (Like the ATi DVD player, when you do a screenshot you see purple in the media window) I'm inclined to agree, BUT why would everything else show through the projector, just not the video. For example, I have the video shown in a WinDVD window. On the desktop I can see all the icons, the Start bar, system tray, etc. On the projector I see the icons, Start bar, system tray. I also see the WinDVD control panel and the window that SHOULD be displaying the video, just not the video. Again, on the LCD screen of the laptop I see the video fine. The image is on the LCD screen and is also displaying on the projector at the same time.

Display settings? I have hooked up the projector to the video out (15 pin VGA port) on the laptop. Video is displaying on the LCD screen of the laptop and also through the projector. The projector shows EVERYTHING that is on the LCD display, except the video that is playing in the WinDVD window.

If I hook up a DVD player to the projector, it plays fine (although I lose some of the screen due to the overscan). THe projector is set on RGB mode for the laptop and Video In (RCA) for the DVD player. Also work on S-Video. I'm thinking its NOT something with the projector, it's got to be something with the way WinDVD is rendering the DVD image, however why the projector doesn't just display what's on the screen is beside me.

Not strange, I had the same problem with my projector using Zoom Player. Everything but the video would display. VLC player would work, though. I reinstalled Zoom and it works fine.

You may have to adjust your overlay settings when the projector screen is being used. On my setup they are not all available when using the computer monitor. Try a different software player, also.

If all that fails, study your video card instructions. Somewhere in there is probably the solution.

OK, I'll check for the overlay settings. I'm sure I'll see something if I go into the setup.

At home I use PowerDVD, work uses WinDVD. We did try Microsoft Media Player as well, not sure which version.

I'll take another look I guess. Overlay seems to be something I didn't check, although I still don't quite understand. I'm sure if I go digging, it will make sense.
