I just got my Tivo on my home wireless network and transferred recorded programs to my PC hard drive. I would now like to use Roxio EZ Media Creator v7 to include these .tivo files into projects to then burn to a DVD.

Does anyone know a way other than Sonic's new MyDVD to convert and/or import these .tivo files into Roxio ?

    Thanx in advance.

  2. Check out the tivo community forums, there's lot's of talk, however a nice guide here would be nice as well.

I'm still waiting on my 7.1 update, otherwise I would take a stab at it.

  3. There are a few ways around it.

Here is a discussion on the downloadable TiVo-MyDVD trial SW.

Many people are unhappy with the limits of MyDVD and some newbies are shocked at the encoding time (most haven't mentioned what CPU/Memory they have so who knows if it is really a slow encoding?)

  4. Seems that tivocommunity.com has "banned" the talk of converting the .tivo files. Proper way is now only to use Sonic software...

Hopefully this is't a threadjack, but can a mod pass down a ruling on the conversion of the .tivo files to DVD's using other tools? Maybe we can get a guide up here?

  5. Someone has even worked out how to remove the DRM, but of course I won't post the link here.

I figure the use of legit DVD encoding/authoring tools with legit access to the files should be a legit topic, even though it can be used "for evil" Just like DVD copying is legit topic because people are making archives of the DVDs they have purchased, even though the same steps can be used "for evil" If TiVo had said no DVD burning that would be one thing, but since they have said "Well you can do it if you buy MyDVD", yada, yada, yada...
