    Hi,
I have a matrox g200 marvel on XP pro.
When I use XP's MovieMaker, all this works OK, but it won't save in .avi so I'd like to use virtualdub.

So I followed the instructions on this page:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxcap.htm

Yet it won't capture audio. The audio section on the right of the window remains at zero!
    Video caps OK.
I have tried to cap from Tuner and From Composite input.

I know this is loaded question, but any tips would be helpful

    Many Thanks

  2. Did you hook up the cap card to the audio cable to the microphone input, etc.?

  3. Here is a solution that will probably work for you.

The problem happens cause windows sets the recording to come from the mic port on the sound card by default. Since vdub caps audio from the line in port only, it never changes the configuration. If you have your audio already going into the line in port of the sound card, the hardware part is done. If not, you’ll need to do.

To do the software manually. Double click on the speaker icon in the systray. This will open a box that displays the speaker levels for the various inputs. Make sure Line In is not muted. Once done go up to Options and Select Properties. Another box will open where you can select the recording radio button. Press okay. Ensure that the Line In is selected. Closing the box will save the settings.

Now you should be able to open Vdub, select Capture AVI and see a response on the audio VU meter and hear audio as well..

    Hope this helps.
