I am using WM Recorder 12.1 and have no issues recording any video streams except yahoo music videos.
For example, no problem with recording youtube videos.
I tried both ADA and PRO modes but no success.
The link of the video playing does not want to show up either (on yahoo music).
I went to the menu, then cashed links and deleted everything before starting yahoo music web site, but still does not want to capture the videos from it.
I gave to wmrecorder all access to internet it asked in my software firewall.
I do have router and just in case opened all ports from 7770 to 7779 and port 2588 for this machine.
When I click on "Internet connection test" in the WM Recorder it does not report any error.
Does yahoo music video goes through some different port(s) or the problem is something else?
It appears however ports are not issue because I also put my machine into DMZ zone of my router just to see if that is an issue but did not have effect.

    Thanks for help

  2. Have you tried 12.4 ? (recently released)

Replay media capture works on those videos

    I only have 12.1 version.
Could maybe anyone with 12.1 please try to record any video with it from http://new.music.yahoo.com/.
Would be good to know if it is WMRecorder 12.1 issue or computer or yahoo music.
By the way, in the field where says URL it is showing "Flash / RTMP Capture Enabled"
    Thanks

  4. I have 12.1 too, and haven't updated it yet. It doesn't work

Generally flash videos are best captured with replay media capture - I tested this on the yahoo site and it does work

I use WMrecorder only for for WMV videos, which replay media capture is not as good at capturing

EDIT: it might be worth upgrading if you look at the changelog:

    WM Recorder 12.2
    September 28, 2008

    * Fixed RTMP recording for web sites like Yahoo music, MSN videos, VH1, MTV, etc.
    * Fixed audio recording on web sites like Pandora which switched to AAC.

Thanks for info, it is a bit comforting that others have the same issue with 12.1
I use WMRecorder because it can automaticaly record (separately) video by video as it comes, no need to sit by the machine and click on different links for hours.
Can replay media capture do auto capture too and record new videos as they come separately without user intervention?

Yes it does. If you leave it "on" overnight, for example, the recording folder gets huge, it even records the commercials and "junk" stuff.

There is a free trial but it has limited capabilities I think

FYI, I just upgraded WMRecorder to 12.4, and it still has problems with those videos

I recently upgraded to 12.5 WMRecorder. It has the same issue.

I spent three weeks with WMRecorder trying to get Tech Support to address. I continually got the message "Incorrect Media Directory", RTMP recording will not be available... when trying to install WMReorder. It would work great on Flash EXCEPT Yahoo videos.

I finally got to the point where I emailed some of the higher ups at Applian and asked for a refund or credit towards Replay Media Catcher (which worked with Yahoo in Trial mode) Leslie Bee got them to issue me a Replay Media Catcher reg code.

I have used WM Recorder for several years and it worked fantastic on WMV videos at Yahoo until they went flash, I upgraded it because it said it now could handle Flash.

Yahoo it can't handle in 12.5 for me..

FLV is one of the most prevalent formats these days, and I often find things that Orbit just can't get at. I'd give Replay a try, but it wouldn't be worth the purchase (to me) unless it can capture the vast majority of that content the others fail to get.

This is an old thread and things have changed. The newer replay media capture versions have changed and don't allow rtsp capture anymore due to a licensing issue with Adobe. There are several threads on this if you search. (if you have an old version and disable/firewall the audio update, it will still work with most sites). The replacement version is a screen capture version (not as good)

Thanks for the update. I did not mean to suggest that it was FLV that was the main issue; it is really more a matter of sites that have taken whatever steps to make sure you can't capture certain content. A lot of that content just streams, and never appears in the cache, so any of the (other) solutions like VideoCacheView won't be of any use. I've also tried a couple of the screen recorder programs, and the results are generally inferior enough not to be worth bothering with.

So, I will look for the other threads you mentioned. For now, I'd be curious to know as of which Replay version they crippled what the program could formerly do, and what our best options now for capturing the "uncapturable" might be.

  12. If you're talking about rtsp true streaming sites (videos that are not downloaded to your PC), best option IMO is still using the old version of replay media capture, if you can find one (I doubt it).

All others use some form of software screen captures which is lossy or huge if using lossless formats.

Maybe other folks have better ideas.

    Version 8 ? Version 10 ? Or ____ ?
I may have downloaded trial versions of some of these, starting with v. 8.

    replay media capture 3.01

The plugins have to be older, because the autoupdate disables rtsp cature with the new Adobe agreement. So I have it programmed in my firewall to disable updates. Dig up that old thread, some of the plugins are zrtsp.dll, a few others, they have to be dated a certain date to work.

There is a lot of info on the replay media capture forums as well, but you may have to dig it up as they have changed to some new versions that don't work so well
