  1. Is there anyway to extract mp3 audio from a divx compressed avi without any recompression of the mp3? i.e. not extracting to a wav then recompressing it just ripping it right out as a .mp3 file

  2. VirtualDub's direct stream copy mode should do this for you.

  3. that wont work i need the mp3 audio as a seperate mp3 file
    i have a divx which i recompressed only when i did i forgot to direct stream the audio
    so now i have the new smaller divx without the mp3 audio
    so i need a way to rip the audio out of the old divx and splice it into the new
    i guess i coudl extract as a wav and recompress to mp3 but woudlnt i loose quality doing that?
    the audio is already encoded at 128k 32hz stereo with the lame codec
