    why is it when i play a divx3 avi file through virtualdub or virtualdub mp3 freeze the picture is fine but the sound is very distorted or fragmented? G spot tells me all the codecs are installed

    Because VDub is not a player, it's an editor that can play videos. Use your players for that.
