I don't believe this is so.
I remember reading on this forum or over at AVS that the DVD recorders cannot read/write to 4x DVD-RW

anyway, you can find 5-pack of Fuji DVD-RW at Best Buy for $9.99
the Sony DVD-RW 2-pack I bought at Target also works.

  5. The Pioneer DVR-220/225 happens to be one of the few recoders which can handle 4X DVD-RW (Version 1.2) as well as 2X DVD-RW (Version 1.1). You need at least 2X DVD-RW discs to perform simultaneous recording and playback, 1X discs won't be able to do those trick plays. Newegg.com has Ritek 4X DVD-RW discs for sale real cheap (less than $1 per disc) in 25-pack if you need to buy in bulk.

I would suggest against RITEK DVD-RW media.
TDK, Maxell, Fuji, Sony ... all in stores locally.
    About $10-15 per 5-pack.

    No

There are many discs that you can only start at 2x.

Actually, it's your drive causing it, not the disc.

    Whatever

My point was that sometimes, you can't do it.
