I asked this before, but never got an answer...In Premiere 5, can you use transitions on .avi files? I can't get them to work. Are they only supposed to work with Quicktime files?
Thanks.

Within the Premiere Timeline there amongst others, VIDEO A and VIDEO B. Set the Time element to 1 second. Insert your first AVI into VIDEO A, then insert your next AVI into VIDEO B> Make sure the start of B overlaps the end of A by about 1 - 2 seconds. Select the transition you want to use, and Place it in the track between A and B where they overlap. When placed, right click on the transition and select Transition Properties, the view actual sources, then you can scroll through the effect.
Alternatively, place your cursor a few seconds before the Transition on the bar with the times on it, hold the left mouse down and keep the ALT key pressed down to scroll through your effect.
hope this helps
