  1. (I'm in the UK)

My simpsons season 5 dvd has arrived from playusa.com
it doesn't come out region 2 until march next year..

But I don't believe it. Its got RCE and I thought it was just Columbia tristar titles that had it, but it seems EVERY new R1 title has the technology .. But ha-ha it may now mean I can only play it on my 2nd dvd player (ive re-set to region 1) and not the 'region 0' player in the living room

But Im still winning. RCE will not beat me 8)
DVD region settings are a joke, I can't believe how stupid people are falling for it

yeah shrink will kill RCE, but it's a PITA to rip, transcode and burn a copy of a disc you bought - just to watch it!

EDIT - It's just the opposite for the Phil Collins Farewell tour. It's ALREADY out in Europe but I have to wait till January to get it here....

I DON'T want to convert Pal to Ntsc

films are usually about 4-5 months after you lot. sometimes (like "man on the moon") they are never released on R2. TV series are also very different. we have never had a release of malcolm in the middle (you had series one about 3 years ago) but we had 6 series of friends out before you saw even one. I try to wait for R2 releases because of the better picture quality, but do buy R1s if an R2 is not on the horizon.

    Hello,

At least you can do the ntsc-pal on the fly on nonrce discs. We can only play pal on pcs efficiently here. Other than that it's that darn PAL-NTSC conversion that can drive veterans of video nutso....

    Hello,

    What type of player????

Though I only have one pal disc and not planing on buying more so a new player is a little ridiculous for one disc...

I have a Shinsonic 100A. It was like $70 three years ago. Very good player. Although every player I've had plays PAL discs.

    Hello,

Man that stinks none of mine do. I have an old Sony s360 and a newer Toshiba model (can't remember the model number - but it plays mp3/jpg files).

Oh well... Like I said it's only one disc so no biggie. And the Phil Collins Dvd will be out shortly

It's weird, i'm not sure if it's arrogance or ignorance which makes the equipment designers over there ignore PAL.

And in any case, i don't convert, my DVD player outputs NTSC and my TV displays NTSC - no conversion jiggery pokery for me :P
