Does anyone have good experience capturing with the WinTV in Windows XP?
VirtualDub 1.4.8 and AVI_io can only use the WDM drivers and not the Hauppauge drivers. Result is that i cannot capture in better resolution then 352x288. Not what i was hoping for!
Using VirtualDub i get huge frame-loss. AVI_io has no problems with it. Cannot find the problem with VirtualDub.
Maybe use another capturing program, but has to capture lossless.
Anyone any luck with a Hauppauge WinTV PCI card using XP?
The Spec's:
* WinXP Pro build 2600
* Amd Athlon 1.4
* 256 Mb DDR
* Riva TNT2 Ultra 32Mb (V770 Ultra)

I used a demoversion of InterVideo WinDVR 1.8 and that one has no problem with the WinTV. Very nice software, and good capturing. 640x480 like a charm. Sound is not very good, but....
Also has TV-viewer modus and an even better Auto-scan then the WINTV2000 from Hauppauge. That one had to be finetuned, where it was not needed for WinDVR.
Disadvantage is that it uses MPEG2 compression. Also the MPEG2 compression is a non-standard one. Editiing is not possible in VirtualDub.
Anyone know a good lossless (AVI) capturing program for the WinTV in XP? Realy need one... -
Yah i know, i got the WinTV Theater card!
max capture rez is, 768 x 288.
Someone must fix this, microsoft or haupauge? -
pxpx>> You should try the vfw driver, I believe it is available on the hauppauge website, look under WinBlows 2000 driver file, W2K3.11 or something

Have bought the Pinnacle PcTV Pro this morning. They told me it has no drivers for XP yet, but want to test it first.
If XP keeps these problems i'll install a clean Windows 98 SE just for capturing purposes. -
The VFW drivers work with XP. Just download and install, don't forget to uninstall your WDM drivers first. Then when you restart your computer, it'll pick up on new hardware. When the install wizard pops up, select do not search for drivers that you will choose, that's it. Just be sure and pick the VFW audio and video instead of WDM. Occasionally you might come across an error when opening your capture program, but just ignore it and choose the right driver under options...
Glad to be of help

Can VFW and WDM not both be on a system?
What is better, VFW or WDM. I understoud that VFW is an old principle, and WDM is an enhanced 32 bit alike driver.

Well, from my understanding VFW is way more compatible. I haven't been able to run both drivers successfully.
