  1. okay, i usually use virtual dub to rip the audios out of the movies, and then bsweet to convert them into vcd usable format, but for some reason, this one movie i got wont be converted by besweet. i can extract the audio into wave, but that wave file can't be read correctly by besweet. what could possibly be the problem here?

maybe it is not really a wav file ...

did you use audio->full processing in virtualdub?
you can also try use goldwave, open the avi and save as wav.
    or try avi2wav.

  4. avi2wav didn't work, i'll try goldwave now. and yes i have also tried the full processing option in virtual dub.

use gspot to identify the audio. tell us what the codec is. if it is ac3 you must install the ac3filter.

  7. i already have the ac3 filter installed. under audio it just says:

    "0x2001: <unknown>"

but if the audio can't be recognized, and it says that i don't have the codec for it, why can i hear it and even extract the audio file with virtual dub?

  9. if you can hear it playing you must have the codec installed. Hmmmm..

Have you tried Virtualdub mod to demux the audio rather than convert to wave?

Maybe you can just add the audio to your converted avi in mpg format and author without muxing. If it is AC3 for example I just demux and use as is without touching it.
What format audio does virtualdub say it is? And yes I would expect it to demux or save out the audio portion even if it is a unknown type. For example TMPGenc Plus can demux mpegs with ac3 even though it can't open or use that format. Or it can convert a Avi with ac3 audio but it only does the video part.

    Cheers
