Does anybody have problems with CAPTURE RESOLUTION using Virtualdub and Windows XP?
In WinMe, I can choose any resolution to capture (custom resolution). Now in WinXP I´m stuck on 352x240 :( .
I´m using a BT878 Pixelview PlayTV.
Any ideas????

Yes i do have the same problems.
Seems like it, that WDM is accepts higher resolution then 352x288 (or 352x240) for VirtualDub and AVI_io.
I have succesfully used WinDVR for capturing in higher resolutions. Disadvantage is that it's not freeware, it uses it's own MPEG2 compression and sound is not very good. It's MPEG2 codec is not accepted by VirtualDub. Not found/searched other editors for it yet.
Which type of card do you use? Mine is a WinTV Radio.
Don't know if you've got the same card, but someone said that one should installe the VFW drivers of Windows 2000. Can be found on the Hauppauge page. -
Hi pxpx,
I have a PixelView PlayTV (BT878 chipset).
I heard somewhere that Windows 2000 and XP are limited to use WDM capture driver while the 9x and Me use the VFW capture driver and that the WDM doesn´t allow you to set a vertical resolution over 240 (288 for PAL). Does anyone confirm this?
