  1. Hello,

I'm stuck in my decisions to get a new dvd writer; I don't know what to get. Should I get a cheap dvdrw + at 4x speed for $40 ? or should I spend a little more and get a dvdrw +/- for $70 ? What brand should I get ? Is plexor a good brand ? or Sony ?

  2. I would definately go with a dual layer burner. You can find them for under $100. You'll only kick yourself later

    Get a Pioneer 108 drive from newegg.com. $73.99

The plextor 716 needs to get some bugs out first so I wouldn't suggest getting that one.

  4. I've bought from Newegg but I decided that some of the software Pioneer offers would be useful and elected to go with the full retail package of the DVR-A08XLA (in beige). I ordered it from the Videoguys a few weeks ago and just got an e-mail today that they are now offering it for under $100 with free verbatim kit and free shipping. Awesome deal.

BTW... the verbatim kit has a total of 10 discs. One is DL, 8 are 8x speed but I've been able to burn faster than 8x with this drive. The last is a re-writable disc that I use for back-ups
