I was doing a batch conversion of some MPEG2 files I received recently. Converting them to DV for compatibility with other DV files I will be editing them with. I decided to turn them into DV, thinking that they would retain all the quality they currently have, due to the fact that I was making the files bigger and less compressed but when I look at the DV-Type2 (AVI) file I created, I am getting VERTICAL blocks on the finer details! What the hell is going on? It's not a field type issue because this is actual artifacting that I am seeing on the monitor. It only looks slightly better on the TV, due to the aperture grill.

Post a screenshot here. You can make video screenshots with media player classic, File->Save Image.

I'm at work, right now. But it's definitely a distortion caused by reinterpreting the data. I was expecting the conversion to a larger file would retain the original quality. I did interleave audio but audio is interleaved with video when you capture a DV clip anyway. Perhaps I should try the audio seperately and see what happens?Originally Posted by BaldrickYour miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision.

I'll check it out tonight. They seem to be pretty large but then again they have very little motion involved in each clip.Originally Posted by bugsterYour miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision.
