Hello all,
I've had the surprise today to notice that i received new Ritek medias instead of the usual G04 i'm used to order. The media code is RITEKM02. So i've searched on the forum and found out that the G04 are discountinued !![]()
I've always used those for their excellent compatibility on DVD home players and i've been very happy with them. What's the point with the M02 ? Are they better ? If yes, what's the differences ? Does anybody have any experience with them and know about their compatibility ?
I wonder about my futur orders![]()
Thank you.
EDIT : Alright, it seems now that the M02 are crap. So what is the best dye for DVD player compatibility ?

What Happened to Ritek DVD-R Quality???
Its crap and what are we doing about it???
FACT
Recently it has been highlighted on many forums and discussion groups that the quality of discs produced by certain manufacturers has gone down hill. Click here for some examples.
To further compound the problem, Ritek, who previously set the standards for 4x DVD-R have now started using an inferior dye in many of their discs - the Ritek M02 dye. Our customers have been buying discs assuming they where G04 and inside the pack is an inferior M02 mixed in!!
As a result many of the major brands have switched over to other dyes. The disc that has totally blown everyone away is the new Datawrite Printable 8X. This disc is manufactured for Datawrite by CMC magnetics using a Mitsubishi Dye (same dye as verbatim and TDK).Not bothered by small problems...

Thanks.
Well i think i'll just drop the Ritek disks thenWhat's the most compatible (for DVD home players) dye after the G04 ? The TYG01 ?

I like the sony media that comp usa carries ,they seem to have always worked for me and they are on sale just about 1 time a month.

In the chain of "what works best" in terms of readbility, Ritek is actually mid to low on the totem pole. TY and MCC (and several other AZOs) are better.

In fact my mom's player would not play the G04 disks that I used to use, sent her a prodisc and it plays just fine.

A good playback test is to run a DVD at 8x FF and see if it sticks or plays. RITEK, more often than not, will stick. Cyanine based discs, same story. The better organics and AZOs, generally do not freeze.
That's a test I run.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I know that TY is the best media quality around but i'm still not convinced about the compatibility on DVD standalone players. And i don't know even know about the console (Xbox, PS2 ...) one.
I burn some films for my clients who distribute to several people, that's why the media must be played on almost every DVD players, like the G04. With them, i've *never* had any bad return in one year. Does anybody have a good experience into "DVD distribution" using with the TYG01 or TYG02 ?
Thank you. -
