    I have 4 PCs...

2 (which are mine) are at work and they are monsters (SMP Xeon/Athlon MP) and they act as servers. I get extra pay

the 3rd one is a shuttle barebones system and its for my T.V.

my fourth is a concern. I want to use this one as a gamming PC but I dont want to buy another motherboard. This PC has no AGP slot. Now I know how PCI and AGP works but is there ANY graphics card that is uptodate that will play most current and some future games and RUNS ON A PCI?

Off the top of my head I don't know of any video chip manufacturers eg Nvidia, ATi, Matrox, etc. that are producing chips for anything other than AGP - and now AGP 4x and 8x as well.

I think your best shot would be a TnT M64 or something that is PCI compatible......

maybe someone else could suggest something better

I think ATI makes (made?) a Radeon 7000 or 7500 PCI.
Also, Nvidia made some PCI, either Geforce 256 or Geforce2 (better).
Neither will keep up with really demanding games.

I know it isnt that expensive but this is a compaq. and it has a nice Quick Restore function that fixes the PC back to factory state. So i dont want to throw this away if this PC ever expirences a devastating virus or problem.

  6. well there goes your chance for a decent gaming pc then doesn't it!?

The best you can hope for is a newish Radeon based card.....which is fine if you want to run lowish resolutions.

Don't think I'm being harsh, but I think it is a waste of time personally to bother getting a PCI card. You will get a better performance from an NForce2 with integrated graphics than you will probably get from a PCI card.

Geforce4 MX 420 or ATI 7500 are the best PCI video card you can get.

I have the same situation and went with the geforce card.

  9. The Radeon All-In-Wonder VE is the most recent PCI version.

Goto newegg and then their video cards section, you should be able t run a search for PCI vid cards that are in the store.

  12. Don't get PCI, you'll be kicking yourself later when you want to run newer games and its blocky and stuff. Spend the extra money and get a new motherboard and a TI4200 or a 9500Pro.
