I have a PC with Intel 82045G express chip set that has onboard video.
I would like to get a second monitor on it.
But I read if I try to add a (PEG) PCI express graphics card, it will disable the onboard video.
Is this true for all onboard video ?
Does it means I have to get a old PCI video card to add a second monitor ?
(My Office PC use a dual head PEG, but that is expensive)

Look for an option in CMOS Setup.

Windows Vista has this feature if there is conflict or some driver is corrupted it will disable it. If your new video card is capable of driving 2 displays and has output for it you are ok.

I don't think you can run two separate one-head video cards in one computer - or - onboard video and a PCI or PCIe card for dual monitor setup. I've never seen it (also never tried it), but I'm pretty sure it's a no go.
I've had good luck buying dual head cards that are one or two generations behind the expensive latest and greatest cards. Performance is good at a much lower price. I do find I have to dig a bit on Newegg. -
Very rare that both will work. New card to drive two monitors relatively inexpensive.
