  1. My current config is

    P4 (423) 1.3 ghz, 512 RDRAM (PC800) non ECC
40 GB MAxtor / 80 GB maxtor (both 7200 RPM)
    Sony Dru500a
    Pioneer DVD-ROM 115

I am planing to upgrade my Processor and mother board as the current one is on a 423 socket and cannot upgrade the bios to make it support any other processor as it is a SONY and no bios update is in line.

    I am considering the following

    1.Giabyte MB Ga-8IHXP(3.0) (USB 2.0, RAID 0,1, 533 fSB RDRAM (upto 2GB))
    2. ASUS p4-533c (almost the same as above)

Both support RDRAM as i have the memory already i do not want to go to
    DDR and buy new memory.

With 533 Processor that i can get hand on for about 200 bugs (currently 2.53 GHz at 198$)

Please give me your thoughts on the two mother boards Please

  3. They are good, just stay away from LuckyStar and ECS.
P.S...avoid VIA chipsets like the plague

  4. @sumibas...

I would go with the ASUS. They are usually a performance leader and always give great overclocking options.
