  1. I searched the forums and nothing really came up that was quite the problem that I have been having. I checked out Doom9, and as they even have a TMPG forum, nothing came up there either that could help. So I am throwing myself at your mercy, here goes :

I have some tv episodes that are in AVI format, and lately I have been doing this :

-Open up Virtual Dub, select for audio compression, conversion and save the .WAV file.

-Open up TMPGEnc, choose NTSC film under Super Video CD, in VBR Standard Format, hit next, then select Vido File -- tvepisode.AVI, and then select Audo File (to select the .WAV I got from virtual dub) and the program freezes up on me -- nothing moves, and I have to re-boot to get rid of the window that the program is in.

I even tried going through the process without selecting an audio file, just the video file, and it started to encode but froze up at about 42% and would not go further.

Why would it freeze up on me? It has been working fine for a while, but now....I just dont get it.

  2. No ideas guys, huh? hmmm. I also tried using an earlier version of TMPGEnc but to no avail, as it crashed during the AVI loading process as well....I know there are other versions of this program out there, maybe I will just try to find more and try them as well....but please, if anyone knows what to do, I would REALLY appreciate it -- thanks in advance.

I definatley see where you would say that (when it stops mid-encoding) but for some reason it will not let me load the .WAV file, and turning it into an MP3 didnt work either -- I think its the program or something or something that I installed on my ocmputer in the last couple of days (like DVD2SVCD -- but I have since erased it) -- I dont know....

    Search Comp PM
choose NTSC film under Super Video CD,
It's not film. Captured TV is never film, you can't IVTC it back to 23.97 fps (reliabley, the structure is gone after de-interlacing for DivX/XviD).

When you save the WAV, you are converting it to PCM audio? Didn't you capture it in PCM? Shouldn't have to convert it. Or did you capture it? If you "Got some AVI's" off of a P2P network, search for some of my rants.

Needless to say, you need to fix the errors, and deal with VBR audio; both of which will crash TMPG. "Saving the WAV" doesn't mean you actually saved a valid WAV file.

The process that I mentioned that I have gone through has worked flawlessly (before) and put out some nice quality stuff. And if you must know, they were Azumanga Daioh (an anime series) episodes.

I think I just need a replacement for TMPGEnc, anyone got any suggestions?

  8. Try adjusting the VFAPI plugin priorities found under environmental settings. Increasing the priority of the directshow often works wonders. If not, why not try a few other combinations.
