  1. I have noticed that the latest releases of Nero (5.5.10.20 and 5.5.10.15) don't use Power-Burn on my Sony DRU500A (Sony's buffer underrun technology.)

Can anyone that has this burner confirm this problem? Or the oposite, is it working for you?

When I choose the burner in Nero, I can see that the check box for PowerBurn is activated, so it's detected at least. But when burning (DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW or DVD-R) it's not used! With older releases of Nero (can't remember which ones) I could see that Power-Burn was being used because during burning Nero showed a message like "Initializing Power-Burn" or something similar, and the information of the burner's buffer was not used (it was blank, instead of reflecting the buffer state.) Because of this I had the first coaster because of a buffer underrun

I don't use the Nero ASPI, I use the same ASPI (with ForceASPI) drivers as always...

  2. Please, someone with the Sony DRU500A/AX and Nero can tell me if Power-Burn is used or not when burning DVD. I want to know if it's a specific problem on my computer or it's a general problem with Nero.
Come on, many people has this burner and surely some of them use Nero

  3. I've been using 5.5.10.15 to 5.5.10.20, 'PowerBurn' is detected in the Driver Options, but did not show up in the 'Burn' dialog. So there's nothing wrong with your drive/computer.
    Sony DRU-500AX.

    Kudos,
    Quan.

  4. Thanks for the answer. However I remener that in the burn dialog appeared something like "Initializing PowerBurn successfully", and the burner buffer graphic was disabled during the whole burn process. Now this doesn't happen. So I think that Nero is not using PowerBurn. This and the coaster DVD-R because of a buffer underrun...

  5. Well, I have been using Nero 5 (5.x) for a while now....

    Plextor 12x , Aopen 24X, LiteOn 32X, Sony 500A...

And they use different names for buffer under-run prevention, however the buffer percentage has always shown %used...

I haven't ever had a coaster from buffer under-run with nero... Even when I made the mistake of putting the Burner on a Promise controller card and the buffer was all over the place and slower than heck... Buffer under-run kept the disks working.

As to it showing I'l have to look tonight and see.

    Cheers
