If I'm mainly going to be playing SVCDS from a DVD source, would it be worth it to get a dvd player that has progressive scan?
I have a large 7 foot project screen ( for my tv)that runs through a line doubler.

You will need a Progressive player if you want your "non-enhanced" or "nonanimorphic" DVDs to look halfway decent. The only player that I would even consider that can play homemade VCDs is JVC.
