im trying to back up mr deeds and rips the movie with dvddecrypter first to an iso
    audio is fine in that
now having mounted the image i have tried with dvdtoone and dvdxcopy and while all the video is good i amnt getting any audio
this is on my comp just testing the vob files

the only thing different about this dvd and others i have done is that there is computer extras on it like a dvd player and so on

i have gone through all the vobs on the disc(original) but can find a seperate audio one

    any ideas
ps the is 6 channel and 2 channel and im backing up both

  2. Even with both audio tracks I believe that movie will still be under 4.3 GB's stripped with IFOEdit. I don't know why you would make an "ISO" of that disk, when it is a dual layered disk. Maybe the "ISO" function has worked for you in the past with single layered disks, but it seems like your method is flawed if you are using "ISO" for Dual layered disks as well.

Just rip the entire main movie set with DVD Decryptor to your HD, then strip with IFOEdit. You can keep all the subs and both English tracks that way.

well normally i wouldnt use the iso method but just rip by ifo method with dvd decrypter but unfortunatly after dvddecrypter has in on the hard drive there is no audio
maybe u could explain what u mean by "then strip with IFOEdit."
this is the first ever disc i have encountered a prob with
normally when u pick the main movie all that is ripped is 4 vobs and if u load any of them in powerdvd u will get audio playing as well as video
    not in this case

have u done this dvd yourself -if u have your method would be much appreciated

  4. when you rip just the VOBS with DVD Decrypter, are you saying right then and there you can play them with POWERDVD but you get NO sound? If so, check and make sure you are getting sound out of your speakers with something else...but that sounds very odd.

Let me know if you can just rip "ONE" vob and play it in POWERDVD if you get sound. If not, rip another movies VOB and try that with POWERDVD and see if that one gets sound. It seems like there is another issue. Let me know about the results with this and i'll tell you the easiest way to back that movie up with IFOEdit.

    thats exactly what im saying
any vob coming onto the hard drive-no sound
    dvd original plays perfect
iso ripped by decrypter and mounted in daemon tools plays perfect

its like the sound is being mapped wrong or something

this was the 4th movie of a bunch i was doing yesterday
each of the others are perfect

    okay a slight update
had the iso mounted in daemon tools and tried ripping the main movie with dvd toobox
it ripped it and now i have sound in 1 of the vob files
    the 3rd of a set of 4

i get an error if i try rip with dvdtoolbox from the dvd
    "cant read from file(00001001)"

have now tried with DVD shrink -same again -audio in only the 3rd vob and this was from the original dvd

am using file mode with dvd decrypter at the moment and ripping every file of the dvd and see what happens with the vobs

could this be a new protection ?

    SORTED at last
dvd decrypter copy every file to my hard drive
lucklily the main movie only came to 3.8 gigs
as they lay on the hard drive picking any of the main movie vobs
VTS_02_1.VOB,VTS_02_2.VOB, or VTS_02_4.VOB would have no audio when played with power dvd
    VTS_02_3.VOB would
so as i had the space i added all the files which came before the movie and extra 215 mbs and made an iso with nero to my harddrive
    now all audio is intact

also i noticed that the is a vob VTS_02_0.VOB that while it is never included in the movie part of any of the apps i tried to rip this dvd with -it contains the intro and play movie menu and that into for dolby surroung sound - maybe that was the only one i needed

anyway ive lived and learnt - maybe this rambling to myself will help somebody out

later guys as its way past my bedtime
