Did you select the right sound device? It isn't your soundblaster (hint hint)

  5. what do u mean it isnt the sound blaster??

o well i just figured it out anyways

lol you'll never believe what the problem was...

omg im an idiot , i didnt have the 1/8 audio cable connected ot the line-in!!!!!!!!!! it was connected to something else...
    LOL

    sorry for being sooo dumb..

i thought the jack looked like it was for something else, but when i looked in the sound card manual it said that the black jack was line-in so i connected it to that instead of the blue line-in...

    stupid manuals falt.... hehe

  6. Bought a WinTV GO card during the last weekend ($20 after rebate from
CompUSA). Installed it with no problem (XP w/o SP1). Followed the
instruction to connect the line-out to line-in of the sound card. Tried
virtualdup cap and resulting AVI has no sound. Then, I opened the
enclosed software (WinTV) and opened the capture audio setup. The line-in
switch there with is "off". After I changed it to "on", everything is
    OK now.

Actually, there is one problem. My machine is Celeron 1GHz with
512M memory. The video is on board. When I capture at 320x240
using Huffyuv codec, it is OK (aboub 1 drop frame per minute). The
CPU utilization is arround 25%. If I change it to 640x480, it can
only capture at about 15fps. It drops frames like crazy. I know my
machine is a little weak. I am wondering if there is a better codec
which requires less CPU power? Certainly, I do not want to use
the uncompressed AVI. It is too big.

    Thanks in advance.
