Hi i have a FEW Vcd's out of likek the 50 i own and half or so stutter every 10 min for around 5 - 20 secs. but only the video fast forwards and skips while the audio stays steady and then they catch up with one another eventually. It skips on the EXACT same spot every time in my Apex AD-1500 BUT plays smoothly on my Toshiba SDV280

    Any Suggestions
    thanx

Hmm. You could be pushing your media too hard when you burn it. Try burning at a very low speed (like 1x, 2x, or 4x) to see if it helps the problem. You should also try a different brand of media, to see if your player has a problem with the one your currently using.

  5. Jordan,

I had similar problems but it was using CCE basic to encode. The application is using some funky method for encoding the field order. How did you capture (DV or analog) and how did you specify the field order (top or bottom first) in your encoding?

i cant see this as a prob lem cuz in other dvd players it plays fine
    hmm
    also i used tmpg

    A few questions:
What are the specs and format of the file
Is it VCD, CVD, SVCD, or DVD
    Is it VBR, or CBR
    What aspect ratio
    What audio bitrate
    What video bitrate

The fact that is plays fine on one player doesn't mean much. Some standalones are more forgiving than others. Some have problems reading certain color discs. It could still be anything from bad media, bad burn, or bad MPEG.

  9. I have the same problem with my apex 1200.
After alot of trial and error I have found that using TMPGE you can make the video run smoothly without loosing too much of the quality.
first open settings then the GOP structure.
MAX number of frames in GOP: to 2
And turn off the Detect scene change option
That should let your video stream go through without being choppy.
but remember the video will lose a little quality, but it's not so bad.

    It should look like this.

and b) why is it only sum vcd's if i make them all the same?? could it be with some seting tmpg fuckw ith themselves, i haev notice that sumtimes iunder advanced it says TOp (a) and sumtimes Bottom (B)
    weould this effect the play
    p.s.
i use the same settings for like all vcd's i do (standard everything, i dont changea setting, for my older movies i made) (the newer i make xVCD )

The TOP field, BOTTOM field setting would cause jerky movement within a video, but the playback itself woudln't be affected like your describing. The TOP field is usually the correct one for sources like DVD rips. If you crop a movie though, you could change that. If your source is a CAPTURE, then your capture device would decide which field is first. You'll notice the wrong field order most on busy scenes, like panning across a wide area. The video will hicup (audio doesn't seem to be affected).
