Easiest way to make a 1 CD DIVX out of a 2 CD DIVX movie?

Alos of movies I download lately are 2 files for 2 CD's divx. I rather have a 1 CD with a little less quality then this. What's the easiest way to make 1 divx file out of these 2 files that fits on one CD?

append the two files in virtualdub so you have one 1 file and re-encode in vdub at a lower bitrate, maybe 800.
dont expect a little loss in quality.
