    Hello,

This may be a dumb question but how do you burn a miniDVD using Nero. When I ripped Pearl Harbor I got the main movie and the additional video on how the movie was produced. I've used DVD2ONE to convert the special part to 700 MB DVD data and now I would like to burn that onto a 700 MB CD as a miniDVD. I think my DVD player will play it but first I have to burn it. Any suggestions.

Burn the CD as a UDF/ISO.

Select 'No MultiSession' under the Multisession tab.
Select 'Mode 1' under the ISO tab.
Select 'UDF 1.02' under UDF tab.

For better compatibility write in 'Disk at Once' and 'Finalize the disc'.

Also make sure you create the 'AUDIO_TS' and 'VIDEO_TS' folders on the disc and all folder and file names are in capital letters.

All files go into the 'VIDEO_TS' folder. 'AUDIO_TS' folder remains empty.

Roch1976.... Thanks for your informaiton. I've tried 3 times and each has failed with the same problem,... good video,... no audio...

I've made sure I've followed each line of your post and everything seems fine until I try and play the miniDVD. On my Apex 1500 DVD player,... it brings up the MP3 menu and shows the DVD vob 1.0. The video will play when selected and there is no errors in the video. However, there is no audio.

I made sure there are VIDEO_TS AND AUDIO_TS folders in place when I burnt the UDF/ISO folder which is loaded with all the vob, IFO, files created by DVD2one.

One other note,... when I try to play the CD created using PowerDVD it says the disk is an invalid disk type. I have other dVD units and they detect the disk but will not play it.

    Any suggestions.

  4. Maybe the apex cant play MiniDVD ..most standalones cant.
I think what your player is trying to do is play the individual vob/mpeg files and maybe is getting confused by the dolby digital audio and not playing it.

Check out Area450.com for miniDVD info..I wrote a guide a few years back for miniDVD and i think its still on there...somewhere !

Do you know anything about the audio file you are using? Is it an MPEG audio, AC3, DTS or PCM? Cause, if there is only the one audio track on your CD it must be either AC3 or PCM on NTSC machines, or MPEG also on PAL.

Are you doing anything to the audio before you burn it. You're not converting the Sample Rate or anything? PowerDVD might be detecting this little problem so it is refusing to play it, maybe?

Try testing this on a DVDRW first using the exact same settings as I gave you earlier and the same files and see if it plays it.

Thanks for the notes and the ideas. The DVD movie I ripped has AC3 audio and plays fine when burnt on DVD.

I will check out the web site and see if I can find a guide and learn something. The funny thing is, I've made a miniDVD before and it played fine. I just played it again and the only problem with it was several points where the video skips,... probably because the bit rate must get to high. It is not a skip, it seems to loose video and audio sync and jumps back to pick up sync again and repeats several frames.

I'm sure this is a video I compressed with DVDx. The point is that once it was done, I burnt it to a miniDVD using Nero,... now I have to go back and see how I did it.

This is an edit of my last post,... for some reason the forum won't let me post a reply to the last post made by someone. Anyway here is what I wanted to say.

I already have a DVD RW drive,... that should have been clear in the first post as I was using DVD2one to make all the rest of my movies. However, when it comes to some very small movies, which are about 1.2 GB, they are easily reduced to 700 MB and therefore there is a desire to convert them to a miniDVD.

Sure it is easy to put them on a full 4.7 GB disk, and I'm also looking into how to put more than one movie on a 4.7 GB disk, and this may be the best solution.

One last point,... I'm always trying to learn more about anything to do with Video capture, conversion, ripping, and creation of good quality video.
