We are also going to run some of our own test on the Y and 7 disk at various speeds and if possible will post the results here.

Just got finished testing my own PY using Wrath of Kahn which is a full disk. Results are slightly better then the one on the link... none of the itty bitty drops that are seen.

At the same time it was also burned at 1x. When I get the time I hope to do four test. Both P7 and PY at both 1x and 2x each. That way we know for sure, things look fine so far though.

Note it may be a while on the testing as my work week starts tomarrow and I will not have much time as this is being done at a friends house because my Pioneer died and I'm waiting on its repair.

  3. I just went through 100 pack of these Riteks:

    00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 79 0E 0B .B...@....P..Y..
    FE FF 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 33 00 .....RITEKG..03.

All 100 burned perfectly and had no playback problems or burn problems.

I just got my new order in from Supermediastore, however this pack are the " P 7 " ones.

Are these the same grade/quality?? I've not yet burned one.

    thanks,
    d

Question, you burn your PYs at 2x or 1x? Some people think that the PYs are lower quality but every test we have tried shows them to be basicly the same disk. I think the only reason for the difference is which production line is off of.

They were all burned at 2X on my Pioneer A04 v1.31.

  6. I actually wrote the Ritek Corporation abou these differnet type of G03 media to find out what the differences are. I have actually seen 4 different types posted in the forums. They are as follows:

    00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 79 0E 0B .B...@....P..Y..
    FE FF 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 33 00 .....RITEKG..03.
    00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 ................

    00 6A 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 79 0E 0B .J...@....P..Y..
    FE FF 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 33 00 .....RITEKG..03.

    00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 37 0E 0B .B...@....P..7..
    FE FF 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 33 00 .....RITEKG..03.
    00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 ................

    00 6A 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 37 0E 0B .J...@....P..7..

    00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 ................

    So you have B@PY, J@PY, B@P7 and J@P7 .

They responed to me asking if I could send them a picture of each type along with what the S/N is (located on the middle of the disk in the format of XX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ) Since I only have one type of the above, I was wondering if anyone out there that has one or more of the above types could email me or post a picture of the disk and what the S/N is on the middle ring. Then I can repond to Ritek and see what they say.
