Hi all
I have several divx movies Ive converted to .mov for watchin on quicktime on my mac. They work GREAT!
Im going on a long trip and a friend of mine has a PC laptop he is bringing ( i only have desktop) We have tried to play these movies on the PC version of quicktime with no luck
Also with divx players and video lan PC version.
What is needed to make these .mov files play on the PC - or is it impossible.
thanks

If you run .avi files through Divx Doctor it doesn't use the divx codec, rather it uses the 3ivx codec. Try downloading that on the PC and see if the mvoies work then.

Great I will try that.
Only thing is, i didnt use the Divx Doctor II to convert these.
It was the Validator that came as apart of the divx component I downloaded from this site.
Does the 3ivx codex for PC allow me to play back the .avi -> .mov that is converted using Divx Validator?? -
To play DivX files on both the Mac and PC, both platforms must have the same codec -- 3ivx, etc. Since when you download stuff from your "very generous friends on the internet" you can't always be sure which codec they used to make the DivX file, just make sure both platforms have the most common codecs and you should be fine.
If you have a "true" Quicktime MOV, use a codec like Sorenson thats in both the Mac and PC versions of Quicktime. -
Actually, these are dvd's that I myself own. I converted these to divx myself, and then to .mov myself
To divx was done with Forty-Two, to .mov was done with the divx validator.
I put them in quicktime because I like how stable the playback is.
The suggested 3ivx for PC plays these .mov files just fine of PC. So I think i found my solution. Thanks -
I have a feeling thats why your listed as forum moderator, have "milk plus" under your name and thousands of posts under your belt
thanks. Now my 24 hour trip will be filled with movies
Have a great day -

Actually that number is always changing. If you look everyone's numbers are the same under all their posts. This is because tht number is dynamically linked to our profiles. Which is why if you look at my first post my avatar, signature, and post count will be the exact same as it is now.

Cool
Any idea what the increments are?
How many posts to get what titles??? -
No no, you make your own titles. I noticed that ou no longer have one. You must have found the magic number.
