I have a 900mhz duron and a tv wonder ve. I want to capture some shows and convert them to either standard vcd's or cvd's. Does it give better quality if you capture at a higher resolution and then encode at a lower resolution then you captured at, or does it not make a difference, for example capture at 480x480 and encode at 352x480 as opposed to capturing and encoding at 352x480.

It's best to capture at a "multiple" of what resolution you want to encode to. Thus if you want to encode to CVD resolution 352 x 480(NTSC) then capture at either 704 x 480, or 352 x 480 resolution. I have noticed "some" improvement (under certain circumstances) capturing at 704 x 480 and then during the encode resizing to 352 x 480. With your limited hardware, I suspect you will be dropping frames, or fill up your hard drive capturing at 704 x 480 resolution. I have a "powerfull" system, since most of the time I get good to excellant results capturing at 352 x 480 resolution, I do use 352 x 480 as my default capture resolution even when I intend on making VCDs.
