Seeing as these two programs are the most popular for backing up DVDs, I would like to get some feedback on which one you all find better.

Please share your opinions if you have used both.

    Thanks

    hi,

I have done Pear Harbour on both programs.

    IC& took almost 3 hrs to transcode, dvd2one 1.1.1 took 35 minutes.
Quality on the pc is identical - have not burned to disc.

  3. out of the two if U want a quick & easy copy of a film just use dvd2one its easier but the current version does not allow U 2 remove extra audio tracks & subs if U want 2 keep the menu thats when I will use instant copy instead

I think I still prefer Instant Copy over DVD2One. The ability to reduce the size of the "extras" is a great advantage and who cares about the time difference. Just kick off IC at night or before you go to work...

I would still like to hear some more opinions though...

    Thanks.

i used to use dvd2one and other programs to burn a dvd 9 to a dvd5. i thought that i had great quality. than ic7 came out. it was like night and day. the pictured is so detailed that i refuse to use anything else. i even sold my $ 650 hardward mpeg2 adapter card for $100 which by the way converted with blazing speed but sometime had audio sync probelms

    did you do a 1:1 with DVD2One

and also a 1:1 with Instancopy

They may look the same on your PC but believe me they won't be if you either zoom in or view them on a omnitor that will show the difference

DVD2One lose fine detail at first then starts to block, but makes up for it in speed

try looking at mrbass's excellent comparision. Read the readme also

I was a massive fan of dvd2one and still are, but IC7 gives superb flexibility a wonderful ability to control exactly what you want to create on your backup, I can now copy a full movie with menu's and sometimes keep some of the extra's I want. The extra's I don't I can ditch.
    Superb.
Haven't compared like for like but of the ones I've backed up and viewed I'm delighted with the results.

like for like comparision of DVD95Copy/DVD2One/InstantCopy is in the zip file in my last link and the results may disappoint some people

    this is a 1 for 1 comparison

p.s. why not just use Ifoedit to strip everything first

I'm sure you all know by now it's not wise to use IC to remove titles and I have proven this in my guides

I use both very often, I use IC7 if I want to keep the menu and extra material. I use DVD2One if I just want to backup only the movie.

why not just use IC on the movie also SLICK RICK?, yes it takes longer but its got the better engine

oversize it so the actual movie is 4.37 then just blitz the menu afterwards

surely 1-2 hours isn't a long time to wait for people unless you need to backup over 2 DVD's a day

I would say DVD2ONE is easily the best. It is so much faster the IC7 and I have tried both of them on a 31" wide screen TV (Which is the TV most people I know have) and you can't notice a difference in the picture.

The only thing IC7 can do over DVD2ONE is choose how much you want to compress the extras and the movie, and lets face it DVD2ONE will probably do that in the next version.

    Best Regards.

same old same old, I doubt this arguement will never die. We all know DVD2One is faster, basically cos it takes info away from original, whereas Instantcopy re-encodes the data!

did you take the time to download those pics

the main factor here is that everyone is seeing a different picture and believe me when I say that if you came round to my house now and saw what I see on my monitor and also on my TV then you would probably change your opinion

In the end it's a matter of individual perception and the level of quality delivered by the playback system

    never a truer word spoken

p.s. by the way I've got a 36" Sony widescreen and a 17" TFT monitor, good enough to show a clear difference whereas my 28" TV shows less of a difference, but then the Sony is the best 36" CRT you can get at the moment

I was not trying to start a pissing contest when I started this thread...

I was just curious to hear people's opinions on the quality of output from IC 7 vs. the New DVD2One where you can keep the menus and extras.

    Please no fighting...

I ain't pissing, I've already been to the toilet about this, but I find it so hard to believe when people claim they cannot see any difference between IC & DVD2one at all

in fact now DVD2One includes 1:1 it will be even more in IC's favour as to the best quality as DVD2one will have less space to compress the movie into

download the pics from mrbass posted earlier in this thread and tell us what you think tjtoed about the comparision and then decide whether its worth the wait

DVD2One's speed makes up for the quality inferiority but it all depends on user needs, but again who has to backup more than 2 DVD's a day and these can easily be done while you sleep and goto work

The choice is their and mine is DVD95copy

If you do then DVD2one is the one for you, if you have the time and prefer better results use IC

asking these 'which is best' questions will always bring a difference of opinion so it's best to have a look at the pics yourself and decide how long you have to process a DVD and make your decision based on that along with some of the info on the forums

Man, to be honest I have a hard time seeing a major difference between the comparisons. I would have to say that DVD2One is the worst of the 3 and, for me, a tossup between IC and DVD95copy.

My preference has always been with IC7 and time is not an issue.

I am sure glad this was not a test to pick the "best" quality because I probably would have failed...

Think I will stick with IC7 especially since it gives you the option to remove audio, subtitles, and reduce the size of extras while DVD2one 1.1.1 does not give you those options when doing a 1:1 copy.

    Thanks for the input.
    Use what works for you...

I think the Wolf is the best example

try looking at the detail of the wolf, the tree detail and also the fire detail especially at the bottom left to see how much fine detail is sacrificed by the two faster programs

now its upto whether you wanna mess about with IC, use DVD95Copy and compress the extras more to get better quality movie or use DVD2One for even quality backup but also faster

My choice at the moment is DVD95Copy as the space it makes up on IC regarding the extras goes back into the main movie so it can compete with it

I purchased mine online at atomicpark.com.
47 bucks with a 20 mail in rebate in the box...

    free shipping too.

I also got RecordNow Max for 37 bucks.

Not sure if this is the cheapest, but it was at the time and I couldn't find IC anywhere in a store...
    Use what works for you...
