What a price! $50 less than the upcoming DVD Workshop with AC3, plus you get a top notch NLE. Dang.
-
I preordered the box version direct from Sonic Foundry. It ships on Mar. 15th. Amazing price for upgraders ($299 for Vegas 4 + DVD). You should get email from SF if you are a registered user. SF RULES!!

Available for download also from Sonic Foundry

BJ_M:
I've tried the Vegas Video demos, and it really is an amazing product. I was hoping 4.0 would include a more advanced titling function. The included features are pretty basic, and I haven't seen any plugins (TitleDeko, etc) which support Vegas.
What do people use? -
well there is included a lot of titling functions , but since you can write scripts for VV4 , there is a LARGE number of custom scripts and also veg files on the sundance web site available for free for titling ..
a lot more support for this is in VV4 than in VV3 -
I know that Vegas Video has been around a long time and glad to see that they've been keeping it around for so long. I'm just wondering why this site and other sites like doom9 don't suggest to use Vegas Video. I haven't seen any guides on either site on how to use it. Basically I'm just wondering aloud. I personally haven't used Vegas Video, but I know of people who have used it and like it, but have moved on to use other(better?? I'm not sure) programs. Maybe someone can come up with a review of the new 4.0 and post it on this site when it does come out. It would be appreciated and I would be looking forward to that review, should it be posted.

I think Vegas 4 is going to open things up a lot. It will for me I know. It will be great to just edit an original work and then from the same program just set up and burn a DVD. -
I have read and reread this post and I may be missing it still but does the DVD portion of Vegas 4 offer motion menus. A strong point of DVD Workshop.
I use Vegas 3 and it is a very powerful program. I forced myself to learn it and it does have an odd learning curve. I use other programs for the lead and end titles (Pinnacle 7) and import them as short movie clips. For my own stuff I find Vegas is very weak in title and transistion department "except" for crossfades which are very easy and intuitive.
Would like to see some input from some 4.0 users as to the title/transistion functions and see if they have been improved or expanded. -
DVDA offers motion buttons, not sure about backgrounds. All in all it is not the equal of DVD WS. Only advantage is that you can set chapter points in V4 (or V3 except you can only get it bundled with V4) and DVDA will automatically create a chapters submenu from them.

My guess is that its not discussed becuase these sites are geared to FREWRE or CHEAPWARE..but with rediution in 4's pricing with plugins will maybe change some of that..
But what I wanted to ask..How do you make markers in your edit that are preserved as CHAPTER POINTS- is this possible with 4- can these chapters be preserved with MY DVD or SPRUCE-UP or do yau havta (an would you always wanta) use architect instead? -
yes your markers are preserved as chapter points in dvda , i dont think in any other author app though ..
-
Agree with BJM, I tested with DVD Workshop and markers are not preserved
-
I haven't tested either yet, but how does DVD Architecht compare to DVD Workshop? I'd love to use just sonicfoundry if I can use VV and DVDA together.
-
DVD Architect and Vegas are meant to be used together , though you can use DVDA on its own ...
it works fine .. works great in fact , really dont know what to say about it .. doesnt do subtitles in DVDA , but now you can use (almost) any V-dub plug-in in Vegas (including subtitler) , encodes and supports ac3 5:1 (and 7:1) and also has Mpeg2 encoder built in or use your own .. -
