  1. Okay. If someone has read my posts before, you will remember that my friend had a vcd image of a movie. If you don't have read anyone of my posts, i'll tell you it now.

My friend has an vcd image. When i visited him today, i realised that it was not a vcd, but a svcd image. He should burn the movie to me, so I could take it with me to watch it with another friend on his vcd player, but when i saw that it was a svcd image, i thought that it was not possible to watch it on the vcd player.

I saw that it was a svcd by opening the image and voila: A folder named mpeg2 with a dat inside. (It is a svcd then? Im not sure )

I remembered watching something on this forum that someone should not use the header trick, but burn it as a vcd in nero.

I wonder now if i have to encode the dat to a mpeg2 file (mpg), or if it is possible to do it with the dat file inside the image.

Or more precisely: What shall i do to watch the movie on my friends vcd player? It's not a dvd player, it come from iran, i think, and it will only play vcds i think, SINCE im not sure about the svcd's.

How can i play this movie on a vcd player is more precisely. Encode to vcd, or use any trick?

    Thanks in advance. PetterP

  2. Okay, maybe a little hard to understand. I'll try again. I have better time now.

My friend has a svcd image of a movie that he should burn to me. I thought it was a vcd image, but when i saw it was a svcd image i started to wonder what to do.

I'm not sure if it is a svcd image, but i think so, because the dat file lies inside a mpeg2 folder.

Now i ask. What shall i do to watch this movie on my other friends vcd player (Just VCD, he got it from Iran or Syria).

Shall i encode the movie to vcd, or can i use a trick? I heard about burning the mpeg2 as a vcd in nero, but do i have to do something with the dat file, or can i just load it in nero?

What shall i do to play the movie in my friends vcd player, and how?

Hope this was a little easier to understand. PetterP

I'm afraid the header trick only works for some DVD players that are not able to play SVCD but will play VCD. To get your SVCD to play on a VCD player youŽll propably have to re-encode the clip.

  4. So it IS a SVCD? I always thought that the video file was a mpg on a SVCD and not dat before i saw the image file.

You sure that there's not any way to trick the vcd player except for the header trick?

Guess I have to reencode. Well, i know that there are a lot of guides around here, but could you tell me what guide and program is the best to convert SVCD to VCD? I will look at the guides, but i'm not sure if i'll find the best.

Thanks for the help. Now, I at least know what to do. PetterP

No, yo don't have to reencode to try the header trick - just remultiplex as VCD (Non standard) in TMPGEnc.
Then author (and burn if possible - if not; just breate the cue/bin with VCDEasy and burn that with Nero) as a VCD with VCDEasy.
