  1. Okay, I rip my dvd with 0sex in the elementary stream mode and I get a widescreen source. Am I doing something wrong? with a widescreen source I can't use minx transcoder because it doesn't seem to add the "necessary" black bars.......Is there any simple "add black bars" program short of re-encoding the whole thing with ffmpeg? Is there a way to rip it in 4:3 with 0sex....some option/angle/title I'm missing? I know movies sometimes have multiple streams, one ws and one standard.....but I swear this one was only 4.3 gb with one stream, i ripped it and it was widescreen, I minxed it and it was still widescreen (i may have selected the add-pulldown by accident....). I'm lost....help....

  2. just out of interest.. why do you want to do this?

you can't add borders without re-encoding, unfortunately.

what does minx do exactly with a widescreen source? does it just squeeze it? so everything is tall and skinny? so it just doesn't set the right flags?? or something else? is it doesn't set the right flags a work around could be just switching your dvd player settings to 16:9 and it should look okay.

  4. Ya I'm pretty sure sizzle is the thing that sqeezed it, cuz i made my image in sizzle. and I "want to do this" because I have a friggin widescreen source 16*9 .vob, and I can't put it on DVD if it's in 16:9 and not 4:3.....how do i set my dvd player in widescreen mode? That's an interesting option...I have an apex....but I think sizzle squeezed it....or did it? Does sizzle actually change the dimensions or anything? Just curious...thanks for the help guys...I'm gonna try the widescreen mode on my player.

If your source is 16:9 widescreen, and you want it to appear as 4:3 letterbox on a 4:3 television, and as 16:9 widescreen on a 16:9 television, you should use PulldownX on the video portion, setting the flag for 16:9 (remember to disable 3:2 pulldown, unless your stream also needs this). After you've done this, re-author as DVD.
