  1. I have tried numerous times to burn an mpeg2 to DVDR and I'm constantly getting the message that I don't have enough room on the disc.

I show that I'm attempting to record a total of 3.8g...far less than the 4.4 limit it has. It goes through all the muliplexing and VOB file stuff, but when it gets to the part where it should record....not enough room.

Any ideas? Very frustrating....first it was the chapter exceeding problem, now this. I like the ease of using MF2, it easily sets up nice menus and such, but if I can't get the recording part, it's not much good.

    thanks

  3. My guess would be your audio properties. I think MF 2 defaults to LPCM audio, not mpg. So when you go to burn, even though your filesize looks ok, when the audio is expanded you won't have enough room. This is from memory so I hope I get it right - on the checkbox in the lower left, click it to open the properties. Go to the mpg settings and choose customize. In the audio section, choose mpg instead of lpcm and that should solve it.

    Hope this helps.

I have posted about this prob before.Ulead support was next to useless-they advised to reinstall after a 2 weeks response rate! However I think I found the answer and I did post this back to Ulead. Try changing the name of your working folder. It appears that DMF2 combined all that was in the working folder.I cleared the folder and my problem was solved. I am using LPCM audio so that was not the problem.
    Hope this helps.

4.7 is the "raw" space available. the actual space is 4.36-4.37

Keep your projects at 4.36 or below and they should work out fine.

  6. .....well I tried a couple of your suggestions....changed the audio to mpg (from LPCM).....still not enough disc space for my 3.6G mpeg2 file burning to DVD. I also tried the suggestion of clearing the working folder in MF2, but still received the same "not enough disc space" error.

I appreciate the suggestions, and any other that may be out there.

    Thanks,
    Steve

  7. how much free space do you got for working plus the actual vob files ( on you hardrive ), figure twice the sapce needed for an actual project, at least that was the rule of thumb in MF1, I do not know if they adresses it in release 2.

  8. Hi i have had the same problem, at first it was fine then this!
all i have done is tell it not to burn the disk but to record an ISO Image then i use DVD Decriptor to record the Disk! this works but i would rather return to norm ( one note the first ver of the package still works fine ) :P

  9. Hey mikerios......I'm working with just over 10Gb of space available....and the programs is telling me I only need 7.1....so I should be fine space-wise....thanks

Villa_restal.... I'll give your suggestion a try next.....the reason I went to MF2 was that MF1 was giving me problems only recognizing ...say 15 minutes of a 2 hour mpeg2 file. MF2 I found was more user friendly ....but it just gives me fits when I doesn't work. I'll try the ISO image route....thanks

  10. This is from memory and i cannot remember if its MF2 of anothe ulead product.

If you already have a muxed MPEG2 load into MF2. I think somewhere along the line their is an option to set encoding rate, set it to max (if you know what i am talking about, because it was along time ago) and if you do have the option then setting it to max will mean that MF2 does not re-encode the MPEG2 thus leaving it the same size as before.

    Hope this helps.
    Dob.

P.S. try DVD Maestro - soo much better and easier also it takes Ac3 which is about 5 times smaller them PCM with same quality, thus allowing more room for extras of better encode rate

  11. DVD WorkShop takes AC3 ( dunno if MF2 does ). I'll give kudos to Maestro, a better authoring program ( once you get over the learning curve ) but for me DVD WS is my app of choice.
