I know this is not the cutting forum, but my question isn't about how to do it, but what most people do...
When you cut your (S)VCDs do you usually just use bbmpeg or something to automatically cut them to 740 or 790 MB sizes or do you go into the movie and make sure a cut is done on a scene change?
I personally always do a cut on a scene change. It's kind of a pain in the ass and is a lot less automated, but the movie watching experience is better since the disc doesn't get changed in the middle of a scene, or even worse in the middle of a sentence.

Personally, I use BBMPeg to do all my cutting. First, I cut it to 790 MB "auto" pieces. Then I use MPeg2VCR 3.11 to look at the first piece and find a good scene to cut at that's good for at least a couple of seconds (since BBMPeg only cuts to the nearest second). Then I use the time marker in MPeg2VCR + 4 seconds to do the cut (don't ask me why 4 seconds - it's just what works usually). Then if it's not quite right, I adjust and do it again. A severe PITA, but I also do not like the movie to be cut just anywhere. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right!
