  1. I have a mpeg2 file that does not play with powerDVD, the program does not respond after opening the file. I have to kill the program with taskmanager.

I used VCDEasy to scan the mpeg file. This is the result of the scan:
mpeg user scan data: one or more BCD fields out of range for 'next_I_offset ': [00:00.3a]
mpeg user scan data: one or more BCD fields out of range for 'forward_I_offset ': [00:06.2c]
mpeg user scan data: one or more BCD fields out of range for 'previous_I_offset': [00:00.3a]
mpeg user scan data: one or more BCD fields out of range for 'forward_I_offset ': [00:06.3c]
mpeg user scan data: one or more BCD fields out of range for 'next_I_offset ': [00:00.4a]
mpeg user scan data: one or more BCD fields out of range for 'previous_I_offset': [00:00.4a]
mpeg user scan data: one or more BCD fields out of range for 'next_I_offset ': [00:00.4a]
mpeg user scan data: one or more BCD fields out of range for 'previous_I_offset': [00:00.4a]
mpeg user scan data: from now on, scan information data errors will not be reported anymore---consider enabling the 'update scan offsets' option, if it is not enabled already!

How can I fix this file?

  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't MPEG-Corrector only support MPEG1 files.

  5. It might not be a real mpeg file.

You might try the MPEGsequenceMaker software in the tools section, try to open it with Virtualdub-MPEG-AC3 or TMPGenc to see how it acts.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
