  1. I have a Canon Powershot A40. It has a feature to take a AVI video clip and I wish to convert this to a mpeg. I have tried the step in the newbie section. I have run the avi through LSX-mpeg encoder and TMPGEnc with no luck. Both times I got an error that the file type is not supported. It is only a 5 second avi clip. Cameras owner book describes the movie as "AVI (Image data: Motion JPEG, Audio data:WAVE [Monoaural]).

    Does anybody have any suggestions?

    cuppla Q's to clarify:

Do you have an MJPEG codec installed? There are a number of them, and they're not all compatible (Pic, Mainconcept, Matrox, Buz, AVID, etc)--which one is supposed to work with your files? Does the codec come on a software install disc?

Can you even play the file via WMP?

Do you have a video editing proggy that is known to work with those files? If so, I'd export from there into huffyuv or something.

    BTW, I love your ID!
