Anybody to purchase the full version of CCE Basic yet?

I have done some tests with the trial and the results are encouraging, I should say. However, having already purchased the Mainconcept encoder, I wouldn't like to part with another $58 for no good reason.

Anybody with feedback on how well the Basic edition works? I think the two pass VBR performance and quality would be what most people would like to hear about.

Copy of email sent to CCE support.

    To Whom It May Concern:

    I created an SVCD Template:
I was encoding a SVCD, when half way through, about 3 minutes, the following message appeared: CCE-SVCD_phase2 failed: Could not read pack start code.

When I tried the VCD, the error message came up at the very beginning. It was more nonsense than the SVCD.

This new Basic Encoder does not show too much. I coded in TMPGenc without incident.

Is this encoder like "Main Concept's"-It does not support DirectX 9.0, only DirectX 8.1?

What can be done about this?

  3. I am very happy with the basic package. I have been putting my Flyfishing videos on DVD and the picture looks great!! I and using my ADVC-100 with SCLive to capture and CCE basic to encode. I am using the 2 pass VBR and the speed is great. I then use DVD Workshop to author. I am running a P4 at 2.8 with 1 gig of ram. I had used TPMGEnc and the time it took an this machine was disapointing. CCE basic is just what I was looking for. I don't know if this would work good for the SVCD croud but for people doing DVD, I would highly reccomend it. I am using DX9 also.

Interesting comment about DirectX 9. I didn't know Mainconcept doesn't support it's usage. I am using MCE with DirectX 8.1 (must confess I was tempted to install DX9.1 as I have a copy - but recent experience about unsuccesful upgrades made be have second thoughts about it).

My initial tests with CCE basic trial were encouraging. It even accepts DivX files (CCE SP doesn't), and speed was good.

Anyone had compared CCEB with MCE in terms of speed?

Sasi, what version were you using? I often encode DivX, and XviD files in CCE. If it doesn't like your AVI, you can always frameserve via AVISynth, or VFAPI.

Fishingeek, what multipass options does the basic package offer? Actually, what encoding modes does it have, if you don't mind (i.e. 1-Pass CQ, CBR, Multipass VBR, etc)?

  6. DJ, the only options available are 1 and 2 pass CBR and 2 pass VBR.

  7. Darn - I really miss the 1-pass CQ version - that would round out this package nicely.

Fishingeek, does it still have 1-Pass CQ mode?
